Readers’ Rock List: The Greatest Guitar Songs of All Time
Rolling Stone – Jun 11, 2008
I just think it’s ironic that the artist topping the list probably has the least amount of guitar playing skills (no offense to Cobain who was an amazing songwriter but-let’s face it-was not the best guitarist and this is coming from a HUGE Nirvana fan). One other sidenote though: Cream or Clapton? Nowhere to be found. honestly the worst i have ever seen do rolling stone’s readers even listen to music or even know what a guitar is? and no its not that thing that plugs into the xbox. kurt cobain could barly play guitar never the less be ranked one of the best.

“Go” became a British Top Ten hit in 1991 establishing him as one of the premier techno producers. By the time he came to the attention of American record critics with 1995’s Everything Is Wrong his following from the early ’90s had begun to erode particularly in Britain. Nevertheless he remained one of the most recognizable figures within techno; after he abandoned the music for guitar rock with 1996’s Animal Rights he returned to a heavy electronic base with 1997’s I Like to Score and 1999’s Play the latter of which made him a genuine breakout pop star. Born Richard Melville Hall Moby received his nickname as a child; it derives from the fact that Herman Melville the author of Moby Dick is his great-great grand uncle. Moby was raised in Darien CT where he played in a hardcore punk band called the Vatican Commandos as a teenager. Later he briefly sang with Flipper while their singer was serving time in jail. He briefly attended college before he moved to New York City where he began DJing in dance clubs.

Do you like tour? Do you like concerts? MICHAELS: I love absolutely love to tour. And you know when I was a kid alls I thought about was going out. You know I bought a guitar when I was very young and learned to play. And alls I thought about was going out on the road and playing music. And I’m one of those people that really still after so many years 21 years now I’m still really passionate about what I do. And I still get excited to go into my studio and just plug in the guitar and play music. And being out on the road is really what’s a lot of fun to me.

Botswana: Local Music Takes Centre Stage

Mbulu the wife of respected songwriter and master producer Caiphus Semenya could have been referring to Botswana music. Botswana music is beginning to take centre stage as local groups entertain music lovers day in and day out. There has been a revolution taking place in as far as local music is concerned. GA_googleFillSlot( “AllAfrica_Story_Inset” );Since the 90s many music groups have sprung up in the country… Their combination on the stage was quite awesome. Banjo also brought Molepolole-based folklore singer Stampore with him. Stampore was a marvel to watch as he strutted his box guitar. The folklore singer did one of his popular songs Ga modimo a ka nthusa bogolo ka e bona ka matlho which means God should help him realise certain dreams. It appears that Banjo is always willing to share his international experiences with other local artists. At a separate venue another local giant Ndingo Johwa performed at Eros pub in Tlokweng on Sunday. For quite some time Eros has remained a popular jazz joint.

… Trace Cyrus Sets Himself Apart From Half-Sister Miley -…
MTV.com – Jun 11, 2008
His summers were spent on the road with his dad and over the years he learned firsthand about the inner workings of what can be a soul-crushing business. He learned that fame can be fleeting — one minute they love you and the next they’ve forgotten your name. “I never had my mind set on being an entertainer in the music business” he explained. “I’ve been playing my guitar and I’ve been on tour with Dad every summer since I was a kid. And I’ve seen mistakes he’s made and the stuff he went through with labels and I know that the music business is scary. But that hasn’t deterred Metro Station from carrying on and working on new material some of which they may preview for fans on their summer tour. But will Cyrus ever team up with Miley on a Metro Station track?”Actually I’m going to sing on one of the tracks on her next album” he said.

Guillermo Klein And His Band Of Devotees

And I realized I could really play any melody that I heard. And I remember that time I was like feeling like I had a gift. “Klein’s parents paid for guitar lessons then bought him a piano. As a teenager Guillermo played rock guitar and studied classical music at a conservatory. But he says he was kicked out because he couldn’t read music well. Then Klein’s parents sent him to the Berklee College of Music in Boston. “It was great man to go to Berklee” he says.
