Bach to Jennifer Higdon and includes the world premiere of a work for saxophone and orchestra by Roshanne Etezady as a part of the institute’s annual “Patriotic Concert” on June 29. Solo guitar music by Paul Galbraith baroque violin concertos and chamber music form a large part of the Victoria Bach Festival. The Austin Chamber Music Festival offers visiting quartets including the all-female Cecilia String Quartet and the Brazilian Guitar Quartet. Some of Mendelssohn’s greatest hits such as his “Italian” symphony will be heard in Georgetown. As usual all the festivals include a variety of free events that are open to the public among them art exhibits lectures master classes student and special interest performances and opportunities to interact with some of the artists. To be called Guitar Hero World Tour the latest installment in Activision’s best-selling games franchise adds drums and vocals. Until now Guitar Hero was based solely on a attempting to play music in time with a virtual guitar but this new version adds a wireless electronic drum kit and microphone to provide a more realistic rock band experience.
