I’ve never seen valet parking at Hamlin before not even when Bill Clinton campaigned there for Hillary. For those who may not know “cotillion” is just a fancy name for social club Beth Knolle tells me. Servers wearing white gloves passed wine and canapés to the guests while acoustic guitar music set the mood. Chairwomen Sally Gill and Glenna Sue Wood enjoyed the fruits of their labor as did all who attended. Carol Thaxton stood out by wearing the Claudia Labao multi-colored showstopper necklace from the Charity League Style Show and Luncheon and Barbara Womack caught my eye wearing a pearl necklace work of art. District Judge Marisela Saldana a first-timer as well enjoyed the art before heading to a friend’s house for a luau while Mary Beth Delano confessed she comes to catch up with friends.

“Benin has no native guitar style” he said. “We have some distinct rhythms and the traditional singing is unique. But the guitar it all comes from Nigeria Mali Congo Zaire. ” Skip to next paragraph.
Dance to the music

Since I have been sick I haven’t been able to practice as much as I would like which in turn gives me less time to practice important thing. Do I focus more on chords and comping or on soloing over the changes? An 8 o’clock gig means I have to leave the house around 7 which means I have to have all my gear in the car by then. So around 5 the amp music stand book and hand cart goes into the trunk. The guitar doesn’t go in because the cold temperature will affect how it stays in tune and I want to minimize any instrument problems. So around 6 I stuff in dinner and take a shower then figure out what to where. Since it’s relatively informal at the cafe and I am feeling sick I opt for casual clothes. n the way to the gig there are a series of bad drivers boneheads yakking on cell phones people cutting in front of me on 590 and 490 and on top of that there’s a problem with the turn signal going too fast which means most likely a bulb has blown maybe a relay but I hope for the former and that no one hits me because of a front signal that’s out.
Xavier band others to make Sweet 16 music
USA Today – Mar 23, 2008
Director Ron Montgomery and 28 musicians flew to Washington last Wednesday. They played as the men’s team beat Georgia on Thursday and Purdue on Saturday. They made music again Sunday as the women’s team was beaten by Nebraska at the University of Maryland in nearby College Park. Today they fly back to Cincinnati so they can change their underwear and get to class before flying to Phoenix for Thursday’s men’s West Region semifinal against West Virginia. “They’re great they get us going” Xavier forward B… two hours before Xavier will tip off against Georgia. “I couldn’t sleep” Brian Kirk says. Normally he plays guitar but the NCAA does not allow electronic instruments at tournament games. He will shake a tambourine instead. “Anything to get me here” he says. The bus takes the band to an alumni breakfast gathering near Verizon Center. Senior Ray ‘Brien is there and he needs a place to stay.

” So were his eventual bandmates. “Ross initially liked indie rock though he’s really into blues now and Adam has wide tastes; he likes Jeff Buckley and things like that. ” Nor has Knowles pigeon-holed himself; if blues is his bailiwick he’s also inspired by “English folk music like Bert Jansch and [Jansch's Pentangle guitar partner] John Renbourn” and classic soul singers (”Marvin Gaye and especially Ray Charles who is just incredible and irreplaceable”). All these elements come into play on RLL AWAY which was recorded at DAM Studios in Douglas the principal city on the Isle of Man with producer Dave Armstrong (whose credits include fellow Manx music export and renowned songbird Christine Collister). It’s an impressive set full of stirring blues bruising rockers and affecting minor-key ballads that marks Back Door Slam’s as one of the year’s most stunning arrivals “We wanted to make the record as raw as we could” Knowles says. “Not too many overdubs. We tried our best to get a real live sound.

But Christian music was missing for some of the men in Delta Company 3rd Battalion of the 116th Infantry based in Fredericksburg. 1st Class Ken Collins of Alton near South Boston began talking about forming a praise band while the unit was training at Camp Shelby Miss. “I started asking people if they could play instruments” Collins said… “His reply was: ‘Wow.
