being in that audience with kids my age knowing thatthat was where we were making our stand against racism. Myunderstanding of the most we can do as artists is based onthat. TM: I was a fan of heavy metal music but it seemed veryunattainable because I did not have a castle on a Scottish loch anda $10000 Les Paul guitar. I had a crummy amp on a chair in mymum’s basement and then I saw the Clash in Chicago and JoeStrummer had exactly the same amp on a chair on stage. The wallscompletely disappeared. I realised that there was no magic to it. You just had to get a few chords together and say what you think istrue and then you are in a band that matters.

His pitching progressed to the point that coaches put him on the mound in games against major opponents last year when he was a freshman at Vianney. He learned to play the guitar formed a band called Time Pieces and earned a semi-regular gig at ne More Korner Bar an establishment in Union owned by a family friend. His first appearance when he was 14 was a favor. But the crowd responded to his mix of classic rock blues and rockabilly and he has returned seven or eight times since. Pitching music and life hung in the balance June 19 when Greg came in to pitch for Anheuser-Busch American Legion Post 299 in the third inning of a game at House Springs.
