Creating the Songs Behind Guitar Hero III
GameDAILY BIZ – Oct 24, 2007
It was a very early build but the amazing feeling you get when you put on that plastic guitar and start jamming was already in place. I knew then that instant the game would be huge. BIZ: Did you work on Guitar Hero III music tracks?WL: You bet! We have several songs in Guitar Hero III. In fact the first song out of the gate “Slow Ride” is one of our recordings. BIZ: Since you worked on tracks for Guitar Hero III have you had a chance to play yet? If so what do you think about it?WL: I’ve played a couple of the songs and I have to say that Neversoft has done a great job of keeping the original feel. I haven’t had the chance to dig into the Battle and Face ff modes or try online play so I can’t comment on these aspects. However I can tell you that the awesome feeling of playing great songs with a plastic guitar rocks as hard as ever.

New York Times – Oct 24, 2007
Suddenly there are a lot of jazz-rock bands around and Mr. Scott’s might be the Coldplay of them: A comfortable romance comes along with the echo volume and drama. With this sound during a very dry time in the jazz record business Mr. Scott was signed to Concord Records which has just released his second album “Anthem… Scott has a great youthful flow something that’s always prized in jazz. But in a music of fewer chord changes and higher volume his nuances can get lost; the logic of his playing and the entwined sound of his lines with the band’s saxophonist Louis Fouché seemed secondary to the main point of the project which was how contemporary it all sounded. There are excellent musicians in this band as many know from hearing them in other situations. The feeling of the music wasn’t entirely hard-sell; there were some beneficial lumps in it. (“The Nine” especially with its harmonized front line and its contemplative changes. ) But it could have used a lot more.

That old feelingof being locked in with chords gestures and emotional moods that you’dhappily say goodbye to started to creep back as the clock advanced. Still far better this long book of longing than a stretched edition of theGlass weekend’s opening at LS St Luke’s: an intimate 75 minutes with therock and punk free spirit Patti Smith joined in glutinous homage to thepoet Allen Ginsberg. When Smith sang her own songs to guitar words andmusic came into focus; but once the landslide of Ginsberg’s rhetoric tumbledover Glass’s halting nastily amplified piano the ears didn’t know whichway to turn.

San Francisco Chronicle – Oct 24, 2007
tmpl –>(10-24) 04:44 PDT New York (AP) — Throughout his career Colombian rocker Juanes has insisted he doesn’t need to sing in English. Hefty pre-launch online sales from his latest CD “La Vida es un Ratico” (”Life is Just a Moment”) prove him right. Universal Music says he has sold more than 6 million digital songs — from legal Internet vendors and mobile phone downloads — from the CD before its Tuesday release. At a news conference Monday the 35-year-old guitar hero said he has often been asked if he could translate his records into English and that his response was always: “I can play my guitar in English but my songs will always be in Spanish. He noted music fans throughout the Spanish-speaking world have long listened to music sung in English often without knowing what the words meant. “The language of music is universal” he said. “It’s like what goes on with us that we’ve listened to music in English for years and maybe we don’t understand it but we like it… Hefty pre-launch online sales from his latest CD “La Vida es un Ratico” (”Life is Just a Moment”) prove him right.
