–>CPYRIGHT 2007 Times Union Byline: Greg Haymes Aug. 16–Voorheesville is the unlikely home of the new Capital Region record company Indian Ledge Records and the label is launching with a double-barreled CD release party at Red Square in Albany on Friday night. indianledgerecords. Hinting at the musical range of Indian Ledge the acoustic duo Palatypus and neo-art rockers Alta Mira will both release their debut discs on Friday and both are excellent first efforts that bode well not only for the bands but also for the label. Palatypus features the singing songwriting and guitar playing talents of Matt Durfee and Mike Poulopulos all of which shine brightly on their new five-song EP “Lazaretto.

Presumably off-camera she also let the producers know thatinhaling and exhaling oxygen at a regular rate keeps one alivewhich must have startled their pea brains somewhat. Far cheerier though probably equally as inane was RSPCA -Animal Rescue which on Tuesday night featured in its breathtakingroller-coaster ride of undrama 1) A kitten with conjunctivitis 2)Wayward criminals quite deliberately carrying sheep in a haphazardfashion 3) Turtles with algae-coated shells and (my favourite) 4)A dog stuck behind a toilet. All set to a backdrop of sexyMacgyver-esque guitar music the series certainly attempted to setthe world alight with its exploration into the world of pet careand wayward canines though I can’t say I spent too many momentsclutching at my heart upon hearing that a cage full of pigeons wasblatantly not supplied with enough water to last them theafternoon. Where were the thrills and spills hinted at in theadvertisements; the tackling of neglectful chicken feeders to theground the cuffing of those who left their cats unvaccinated? Theclosest Animal Rescue got to action was sombrely revealing that a26-year-old turtle didn’t make it after being removed from hisornamental pond. In lieu of flowers and so on. Anyway as a dog owner I didn’t much mind watching rogueishgrowler Rex reunited with his dad after a few panicky hours trappedbehind an S-bend. As someone who perhaps wants a little moreexcitement from half an hour of television than the line “Sircarrying a sheep like that is a criminal offence” can providehowever I may be looking elsewhere for my kicks in future.
‘Rock Band’: A Hands-n Test of the Most Anticipated Video Game of…
Rolling Stone – Aug 16, 2007
In fact it?s made by same MIT Media Lab music brainiacs (Harmonix) who created Guitar Hero (as well as a slew of other music games from Karaoke Revolution to Amplified). How It Works: Each person takes an instrument in the form of a plastic video-game controller shaped like a guitar bass drums and mic respectively. When the music starts each member of the band has to press red blue green or yellow buttons on the controllers (or sing correctly) in sync with the ever-changing colored squares and bars that run on a track on the screen. It?s typical Karaoke Revolution-meets-Guitar Hero gameplay but with a seriously intriguing four-person multiplayer element. What It?s Like to Play: We sang along with Rush?s ?Tom Sawyer? with words (and bars representing note values and pitches) streaming across the screen in time with the music.

“The reason we’re working on this project together now is because I’m a writer and I went back to him for lessons because I wanted to learn more chords and he heard my songs and said ‘Let’s try recording a couple’ ” Lilly said. “I went to him for lessons and I’ve been playing for 30 years. “”I like pop music but I grew up on roots music” said Keyes “but being a session player you play whatever so I liked the challenge of pop music.
